Help Us Fight Breast Cancer
A Message From Michelle
Mikull and I are going to participate in the 2007 Komen New York City Race for the Cure on September 9th to help raise funds to fight breast cancer. The event is the premiere fundraiser of the Greater New York City Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Sadly, we have not received any donations as of yet to support this worthy cause- This deadly disease has impacted my life personally and I’m sure some, if not most of you, have been affected as well, and understand the severity of this growing problem. Please read the message below, and if you are able to support us please click one of the links that follow. Anything you could do would be appreciated!
Most of us know people whose lives have been touched by this disease. In 2007, one in eight women in the US will be diagnosed with breast cancer. That’s over 200,000 people. More than 40,000 will die. It’s time to run breast cancer out of town!
This year, Komen Greater New York City distributed more than $3.2 million in grants for education, screening and treatment programs for local underserved women, as well as for local and national research. Still, Komen was only able to fund fewer than half the proposals it received.
There’s more work to be done! Help me and Komen Greater New York City break fundraising records for this year’s Race, so that Komen can grant even more money in 2008.

You can support my participation by making a pledge through October 31 or contribute to the work of Komen Greater New York City by making an online donation. Just click on the link above. Check out to see if your employer has a matching gift program — it will double the value of your contribution!
Thanks again for your support! Together we can help create a world without breast cancer.

Thanks to everyone who emailed, called, and of course donated. Remember, you can still donate if you like- up until October 31st.
It was a fun morning, and it was an amazing feeling to even play a small part in the event. Check out some pictures on our flickr account.
As of Monday morning Team Duane Reade raised $17,653.19. In total, Duane Reade contributed almost $100,000 to Komen New York City Race for the Cure.
I really do hope some sort of cure is found- and that the walk continues even still to help with the medical bills of cancer patients in need. Life is short and precious, and we need to value what we can do with the time we have.
You can still donate up until October 31st. We have received some more donations since the walk, and Michelle is at 96% towards her goal. Great work everyone, thanks again.
