Guitar Hero III

Guitar Hero IIIGuitar Hero has been cleaning up, with sales skyrocketing and holiday demand asking for more. In fact, in just seven days Guitar Hero broke $100 million in sales. Impressive.

I had seen the series launch and progress over the last few years, but never really jumped in until just a couple of weeks ago. Member Jody pointed it out, and after borrowing it from another friend out of curiosity, I went to the store and grabbed my own copy. How could I not? IGN pointed out that “If you don’t know the Guitar Hero series by now, consider yourself impotent as a gamer.“.

It’s exactly what it looks like - playing a guitar controller to notes streaming at you on the game’s fret board. The variety or rockin’ tunes, difficulty levels and online play capabilities make this a unique and winning gaming experience for all age groups. Two thumbs up from mikull.com.

We’ve been talking about the Wii on the boards lately, and it was noted that although Super Mario Galaxy was a must own Wii game destined to be a hit this holiday season, it would be unlikely that it sell out entirely. I have seen it disappearing off of shelves; however, Guitar Hero III (particularly for the Wii) seems to be hardest to find now, second only to the console itself.

  1. You Mac gamers out there (we know, we know, “both of you”) will be pleased to learn that the briefly delayed Guitar Hero III will be shipping to retailers on December 10, so you should be able to snag a copy in time for [insert gift-giving holiday of choice here].

The $80 PC/Mac hybrid disc (that’s called a twofer where we’re from) is bundled with the USB-based X-plorer guitar and will even include cross-platform multiplayer between the two at times warring platforms.
